VALEDICTORY.

GREYMOUTH METHODIST CHURCH. The members and friends ol the Wesleyau Methodist CluircJi n*semblcd in great numbers last, ■vomity I" bid farewell to their pastor the Rev. T. W. Vealie, wliu is leaving '<><>■ mouth to take charge of the Morning ton circuit, Dunedin, also to \!<-ssrs J. Crawford and R. Roberts, the former leaving this circuit to lake up duties as Homo Missioaor a' l'i< ' ding and the latter to tak< i liai :• 'f th Post Office at Denniston. The musical part ol the pi igramimwas given by the following artists, Mr A. Nightingale presiding: Violin solo, Master E. I'eppei : son.' Mrs Most on ; Clarionet to solo, Mr .1. B. Clarkson ; song, Miss Vealie; recitation, Miss Greenslade; sou.'. Mr W. B. Cadzow, who was repeat -illy recalled and complied twice. The Rev. J. Harris spoke in appreciative terms of the Rev. Mr \ -alie's excellent'qualities and slated ihat as a superintendent .Minister he was all that could be desired. He also referred to the loss that would le fell through the departure of Mr Crawford from the district.

Mr Nightingale, on behalf of tiemembers and congregation referred in high terms to the work that had boon accomplished by the Rev. Mr Vealie during his three years in ■ dice, in Greymouth, and of the esteem and regard in which he was held by the officers and all connected .vith the church. In bidding farewell Invoiced the feelings of the people, that he and his family may be long spared to still carry on the work of (Joel, and that his labours would be crowned with success. Mr Nightingale also referred to the splendid work done by ; Mr Crawford and Mr Roberts in connection with the Methodist. Church. They would be missed very much, but he trusted that in their new spheres of labour, they would find friends just as congenial as those they had left behind. On behalf of the mmebers of the church, and congregation hepresented the Rev. Mr Vealie with a handsome silver mounted salad bowl appropriately inscribed. The Rev. Mr Vealie in returning thanks, said there was always n feeling of sadness in saying fa re,veil. Ho felt he was leaving some of the best, friends he had ever made. Me referred to the manner in which he came among them, and in looking back over the three years, he could pay that, it had been a pleasure for both -Mrs Vealie and himself to do whatever they could in the interests if the church and people in Greyino.ith. He also referred to his successor and appealed to the people to uphold his hands, and thereby strengthen turn m the work here in Greymouth. Mr T. Taylor, on behalf ol Unchurch and congregation presented Mr James Crawford with a purse of sovereigns, and referred to Mr Crawford s many excellent capabilities. Mr Crawford thanked the people lor their generous gift, and stated that he owed whatever he had gain?d, principally to the kindness of the friends in the Methodist Church. Mr H. Scrivener, on behalf of the Young Men's Bible Class, presented Mr "R. Roberts with two beautifully bound books as a memento of the many services rendered to the young people of the Church. After refreshments had been handed round, the meeting closed with the Doxology. —-
