INVERCARGILL, This Day.— Sydney Harrison, eightoon years of age, employed in tho Government Life Insuranco Department, shot himself in tho right temple with a revolver last evening and died an hour later. The cause is unknown. SELLING LIQUOR WITHOUT A LICENSE. CHRSTCHURCH, This Day.—A woman named Benson was fined £2O in Court today for having sold liquor without a license. She kept a small restaurant in the city and the police said she was a common prostitute. WINTRY WEATHER. NELSON, This Day.—A mild blizzard was experienced yesterday afternoon, an icy south-eastorly wind springing up suddenly and bringuig sleetv rain. It was a cold night. The weather is now brilliantly fine, but cold. DROWNED. STRATFORD, This Day.—Winifred McGregor, aged thirteen months, was drowned through falilng into a copper left standing in the back yard.
