N. Z. ATHLETIC UNION.
ANNUAL MEETING. The delegates attending tile New Zealand Athletic Union Meeting and Sports held their final meeting in tho .Municipal Buildings last, night, Mr G. W. Woods, the. retiring President being in the chair.
The remit from the Southland Centre: ••Thai at least a quorum of Executive of the X.Z.A.I', shall reside in tho Centre in which the secretary is resident was amended fo read "shall reside at or near tho Centre."
The question of applying to the Railway Department for special concessions for delegates and competition-, to sports gatherings was left to the incoming Executive to deal with. A cordial invitation to the delegates to visit, Hokiiika dining their visit to the Coast was warmly received and acknowledged as many as could avail themselves of it deciding to visit, the town.
Tlio question of the publication of tin.' Calendar was considered and several representatives of centres undertook to induce their centres to give a guarantee as it. was deemed essential in the interests of the Union to continue its publication regularly. A motion by Mr Keast to add time more members to the Executive owing to having taken over the control of cycling was lost, it being though! that the extra number was not necessary. The question of the headquarters of the Union for the ensuing year was considered at length and the claims of South Canterbury were deemed para mount the voting for South Canterbury as against Otago being 17 to 9. It was decided to give the Feilding Centre notice that unless they pay up the three years' arrears of fees within one month from date or/ make some arrangement for the settlement of the amount due the Centre be disqualified. ' ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Mr Q. W. Woods was unanimously asked to accept the position of Patron of the Union which he consented to accept, the other officers elected were —President—Mr Q. Kennedy (South Canterbury), Vice-Presidents Messrs T. Duncw (Wellington), and Clark Taranaki)! Executive: Messrs Calender, Kallaughan, Hansen and Fisher, a representative of the West Coast to bo elected by the Centre Secretary a,nd Trasurer—Mr D. J. Corcoran who declined' to accept the position if the proI posal to make it a paid office were gone on with. '
Mr Kennedy applied to have the Championships held in South Canterbury next year.—Grunted. Votes of thanks were then passed to the retiring officers ; to tho West Coast Centre for the hospitality and interest they had taken in the conduct of the conference and sports; to the Borough Council for the use of their room lor the meetings ; to the -Star'' and to the Chairman. It was stated that the presentation of an illuminated address and piece of silver to Mr Woods would be made as soon as possible and Mr Woods thanked the delegaies for their intention stating that it would be a pleasure to Airs \\ oods to receive such a presentation. The meeting terminated just before 11 p.m.
