Yesterday a number of golf enthusiasts belonging "to the Grevrnoutb Club jom--neyed to Hokitika, where they played a tournament with representatives of the Hokitika Club. Wet weather was experienced, so that matters at times were ren<i» red rather disagreeable. Tire scores are as follows -
MEN’S SINGLES. Newman (Hokitika) beat Ollivier by 3 up and two to play. Winchester (Hokitika) beat Harper six up and four to play. Lewis (Grey) won from Crawford by default. J. C. kitika four. Tin - visitors were entertained by their Hokitika confreres, who were lavish in their hospitality. MATCH AT GREYMOUTH. The following are the scores for the match played yesterday on the Omoto links, when a team from Hokitika visited Greymouth;— Cooper (H) heat, Stenliouse (G), five Up. iqi. In the foursomes the following were the results Coates and Lynch (G) beat Renton and Sanford (H), two up. White and Smith (G) beat Malfroy and Caimie (H), two up. The result of the day’s play was that Gicvmouth and Hokitika were all square. The visitors before leaving were kind enough to express their pleasure at their day’s outing, and asked the Grey players to visit them as soon as a team for such a visit can be arranged.
