DUNOLLIE LIBRARY.

(Our Own Correspondent.) A general meeting of the Seddon Memorial Committee was held in the Dunollie Hotel last evening, Mr R. Semple being in the chair. After the previous .minutes had been confirmed, the following correspondence was read and dealt with : From Mr A. R. Guinness, apologising for his absence at the recent deputation to the Minister of Mines.—Received. From the Minister of Mines, recognising the Committee’s request for a grant towards the erection of a Seddon Memorial Library at the State Colieries.—Resolved that thq be requested to reply, slating that -the Committee’s recommendations and further proposals will be forwarded to kirn by Mr Bishop, general manager at the colliery. Resolved that the committee form a deputation to Mr Bishop to place before him for transmission to the Mines’ Department the Committee’s requests on the erection of a library, and the most suitable means of commemorating the late Premier, R. J. Seddon. It was proposed to raise further funds, select books, and institute winter entertainments as soon as the grant is made, and the general opinion was expressed that ere long this much-needed work will be gone on with. The names of Messrs J. Bishop, Coppersmith and Pollock were suggested, and selected as suitable Trustees for the institution, and Mr Guinness was asked to co-operate in securing the establishment of tin's much-needed institution.
