GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of the Greymouth Jockey Club was held last night. Present — Messrs Petrie (chairman), McCarthy, Bi'gnell, Kettle, Gieseking. Walton, (Jlaughesy, Smith, Yarrall and Ponsonby. The Treasurer reported the loss on last meeting to have been £ll9 13s lid, the total expenditure on the meeting being £BIB 15s sd. After making provision for all expenses to the end of the year the deficiency would be about £IOO. A trainer’s license was granted to Arundel Pike, of Nelson, recommended by the Nelson Jockey Club. The action of the Secretary regarding a permit for training to J. H. Hickton was endorsed. The application was not in order, and an explanation had been forwarded.

W. A. Lindop applied for permission to cut flax at Ihe racecourse. No objection was taken to cutting the flax on the reserve and the club’s ground. Resolved to call a meeting of the Racecourse Trustees on the following morning at ten o’clock to consider a similar application.

At the meeting of the Trustees held this morning the application of W. Lin dop, also Messrs Butoment and Cambridge came up. The Secretary said the latter had not been before the Jockey Club, and he understood from Mr Guinness that until the annlication came bj fore the club it was no use for the Trustees to consider the matter. Mr Guinness thought Mr Yarrall had misunder stood him. Mr Kettle moved, and Mr Guinness seconded, that the Board has no objection to either application. Mr Sheedy moved and Mr Walton seconded that inasmuch as that Mr Lindop has already paid the Club £llO his application be granted. The amendment was carried. Resolved on the motion of Mr Kettle that the sum of £SO be advanced to the Jockey Club.
