THE GREYMOUTH RACES.
J There should he capital racing on the Greymouth racecourse on Thursday and Friday. The course, notwithstanding the recent wet weather, is in excellent condition; indeed, it has never been in anything like such a state of perfection uefore. The turf is compact and close cut, and reflects much credit on the caretaker. The acceptances are very good, and so far as the chief item is* concerned, the best for the past ten years. Most of the horses are in good fettle ,and keen contests may be expected. Tho Club have made perfect arrangements to keep bookmakers from plying their avocation. Any of the fraternity found laying the odds will be very sharply dealt with, whilo those betting with the "bookies" will render themselves liable to prosecution. It is a difficult task to attempt the role of tipster, but we are informed by a "ood judge that the following are regarded as having the best chance in the various events.— ,: Trial .Handicap.—Lacy. I'aroa Handicap.—Runanga. Groymouth Metropolitan,— Sandy or Roseal. Hurdles.—Lurcher. Welter Handicap.—Ohio. Victoria.—Freeland.
