A death under peculiar circumstances occurred at the Napier Hospital yesterday. A man named .John Maclley was aditted to that institution on Saturday, m I en„g ~, ,„ concussion of the brain from which ho died yesterday. It appears that he was 'working n ( Wa.mohik., and on Thursday went on horseback to gel some lambs. "On Friday morning his riderless horse with the -saddle on returned to Waiohiki Pa \ •search was made., and Madley was found in the afternoon on the river bank only partly dressed. No trace of him could be found, but on Saturday morning it was ascertained that •Madley had been found and taken charge of by Constable Riordan and taken to the Napier Hospital. Probably Madley was thrown from his horse, but if so, where and when is not Known.
An inquest, was commenced to-day, but was adjourned for a week.
