KUMARA BOROUGH COUNCIL

(Our. Own Correspondent.) The interim meeting of the above was held ou Wednesday evening at the Council Chambers. Present—His Worship the Mayor (chair), Crs, Benyon, McGlone, Rouse, Camqbell, Eggleton, Jones, Evenden, Gilbert and Jorgenson. ( Inward correspondence was received from the Engineer of Roads re the Council's share of cost of Tcremakau bridge. Left in the hands of the Mayor 1 and Town Clerk to give ti e necessary notice. The following applications were received for day labour man:—Gilbert Connors, Mat. Nicholas, G. Rich, Owen Roberts, A. Honey, and M. Whelan. A ballot was taken and in the first vote the following received the highest number of votes: Nicholas, Whelan, Connors, and Honey. The two latter receiving an equal number of votes, the names were drawn from a hat, Honey's name was drawn first. On a second ballot Mr M. Whelan secured the position.
