A GOOD-HUMOURED PRINCE.

Prince Henry of Battenberg was deservedly loved among those who saw him in the family circle, aud many anecdotes are told of his simple goodwill. The Poulard Hotel was very much overcrowded, aud, at first, Madame declared that she could not take them in. At last she placed a small private room at their dLpoaal, but insisted that only one dinner could be supplied to the entire party, and that they must all take it sitting down together. The attrndants on the Royal people were very much confused ; but Prince Henry, according to Mme.Poulard, could do nothing but laugh, and insist on acquiescence in all the pretty, busy little Frenchwoman's

arrangements. She waited on them in her brisk, kindly fashion, having no notion who they were. She brought them their courses on one dish ; and, when they remonstrated, told them merrily that they had better take it while they could »et it. She expostulated freely on the weight and quantity of their luggage, aud altogether treat'd them in the most cavalier manner possible. But Prince Henry simply enjoyed the whole affair from beginning to end, took it as a delightful joke, and quite won the good Frenchwoman’s heart by his conrtesy and gaiety.
