Many residents of this district who have made the acquaintance of Mrs Wright (mother of Mrs G. H. Allan) during her recent stay here will regret to hear that immediately after her return home to Invercanull she Mid the niisfuriune to fall and break her log. The shock to the system was so great that the poor old lady was unable to survive it, and death intervened this morning at Invercargill, just two months frcm the date of her departure from Collingwood. Mrs Wright was an old colonist, having resided in Invercargill for about 25 years. She reared a largo family, of which Mrs Allan is the fourth daughter. To-day the district in which the deceased lived so long is universally deploring the death of a good woman, and heartfelt sorrow at the loss of a good mother is being experienced in one homo at least in Collingwood.
A meeting of the Aorere Works Committee will bo held on Saturday evening next. The Road Board's monthly meeting will bo held on Saturday week, 7th August. Mr G. H. Allan, auctioneer, notifies elsewhere that on Saturday week, 7th prox., he will submit to auction at the Public Hall a large assortment of general drapery, clothing, etc., particulars ol which will he found in our advertising columns. As everything will be sold absolutely without reserve a rare opportunity is thus offered for securing real bargains in all kinds of clothing. The sale starts at 1.30 p.m., sharp. *
The estate of the late Alex. Donaldson -will be disposed of by Auction by Mr G. H. Allan on the 16th August, and Mr Allan will also auction off the land, goods and effects of Mr T. Douglas at an early date.
The Clydesdale sire Young Wellington, so favourably kuown in this district last year is now offered for sale locally, and intending purchasers may obtain all particulars concerning the horse from G. H. Allan, auctioneer.
Mr J. E. Clear, the well-known tailor of Nelson, will vi it om district early in next month, and will be prepared to take orders for all classes of work in his particular line. The funeral of the late Edward SoTy which took 1 lace at Takaka on Friday last was one of the largest ever witnessed
