A NET IMPROVEMENT RETURNS FOR 36 WEEKS Per Preen Association. Wellington, Jan. «i. Revenue received by the Railways Department during the 36 weeks of the financial year to December 10 shows a net improvement of .£73,175 as compared with the corresponding 1 period of last year. The figures completed to December 10 show a net improvement f £7697 for the four weeks ended on that date, which gives a total improvement of £73,175 in net revenue for the financial year to data, compared with last year’s returns for the corrcsjxmding 36 weeks. In the last four weeks expenditure was reduced by £26,548 —more than compensating for a fall of £18,851 in revenue. The total revenue from April z to December 10, 1932, was £3,902,578, and tlie total expenditure amounted to £3,582.810, showing a net revenue of £319,768 as compared with £246,593 to thet corresponding date of the previous year, or an improvement in net revenue of £78,175, as indicated above.
