cial thanks arc due to tlie Feilding Pipe Baud in playing outside the Hall •prior to tlie start. The attendance. however, was not as large as could he desired for such a worthy object, only a small profit being realised. The Free Ambulance was well represented and th(> realisation that cooperation, public service and social go< dt’i llowship were tlie mutual aims of both organisations established a feeling of harmony atid friendship throughout the evening. Cards occupied tlie first half of the evening, followed by supper and dancing. For the dance, the piano was pleasantly varied with instrumenetal music, including accordion, banjo and bagpipes, a Scottish waltz, played by one of the Feilding pipers, being especially appreciated Mr. Holz. superintendent and secretary of the Ambulance Committee, explained tile work and objects of the Free Ambulance, which, he said, was a public service owned hy the people for the people. He also expressed the appreciation of his committee for the generous response that had been given lo their house to house canvas by the Feilding people.
