Ml SB COPPLKSTONK FAILS COLDNESS-AND CRAMP (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) London, Aug. 9. Miss Lily Copplestoue, the New Zealander, left Cape Gris Xez at midnight in an attempt to swim the Channel. She abandoned the attempt after swimming 4 hours 50 minutes. After swimming for an hour. Miss Copplestoue suffered from the coldness of . the water, cramp eventually causing her retirement. She was taken In a motor boat to Dover. She is disappointed at her failure. She will leave for America on Saturday and holies to rturii to England next summer.
