AT GOVERNOR'S REQUEST FOOTE THE TRAVELLER T*e- Picks Association Christchurch. Aug. 9. Henry Foote. I a man who caused a stir in Cathedral Square yesterday afternoon by taking a seat, beside the Governor-Genera] n the Vice-Regal car, was tailed on for an explanation in the Police Court. In view of tlie fact that His Excellency had expressed the desire that the punishment should not be severe, Foote was convicted and discharged. a prohibition order being issued against him. Foote, who is a traveller, said he hail drinks, and had inteii led to get the Governor-General's autograph. He meant no offence.
