The Committee Meets JOINT ART UNION LAST NIGHTS PROPOSAL At last evening’s meeting of the Manawatu Rugby District Council it was resolved to invited tlie Manawutu A. and P. Association to cooperate in a joint appeal to the Minister of Internal Affairs for authority to conduct an art union the profits from which would la- shared by tlie Manawatu Rugby Council. A. and I*. Association an 1 Cricket Association. and by "the Horowlieuua Rugby District Council. FINANCE NEEDED Tlie Treasurer (Mr. Ilardie) intimated that the Council would require considerable finance to complete the improvements to tlie Park road ground and after suggestion that an art union woul.l Ik- a good way to .raise tin- necessary money lie moved : j“Tliat this Council communicate with .the Manawatu West Coast A. and P. Association with a view to making application to the Minister of Internal Affairs for permission to conduct an art union and that tlio Horowhentta Rugby District Council and the .Manawatu Cricket Association be invited to participate, the jiereentages | in the division of any profits to be allocated later.” Mr. Mcllerron seconded tlie motion and it was carried without discussion. THOSE PRESENT ! Mr. .1. A. Colquhoun (President) was in the chair at tlie meeting and other members of the Council present were Messrs. L. <l. Berry, M. Bowler, X. Penney, .T. 11. Hurdle, C. Yates, IT. Crawford, 11. Hands, E. Clecely and T. MeHerron. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs K. Eglinton and T. Pagan. FEII.DING RETAILERS Authority was given the Feililing retailers to play tlveir annual match oil Johnston Park on- Wednesday, August 17th an 1 to take till a collection for the unebploymeut fund. JCX 101 l COMPETITH>X The question of the three matches to decide the junior championship was raised and it was resolved tltat the draw for these be made at the meeting, the draw resulting as follows : First Saturday.—Woodville v. BuDnytliorpo. at Bunnythorpe. , Second Saturday.—St. Patrick's v. Woodville. at (lie Showgrounds. Third Saturday.—Bunnythorpe v. Si. Patrick’s at the Showgrounds. HI DDEN DEATH COMPETITION Seven teams were entered for tlie junior sudden death competition, the teams being P.X.11.5., Old Boys A and B, United, Batteries, Kia Toa and Eeilding. JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVES Sir. Clevely raised the question of a junior representative game during tlie present season, and it was resolved, on tlie motion of Messrs Ilardie and Penney to invite Horowlieuua to send a junior representative side through to play Manawatu at Palmerston North on September 3 —the day set for tlie Mans whenun-Wanga-nui game at Wanganui. MANAWATU v. BUSH The secretary reported that the Bush Uuiou liad definitely accepted the game with ManawHtu at Eeilding on August 21. MATCH WITH SOUTHERN HAWKE'S BAY It was decided to invite Southern Hawke’s Bay to send a representative team through to play Manawatu at Palmerston North on August 27. PRIMARY SCHOOL GAME Mr. Berry made formal application for permission for tlie Mannwalu primary schools’ representative side lo play ltaugitikei at Marlon next Saturday. This was granted on tlie motion of the chairman. S.VTCRD AY’S FIXTURES The fixtures fur Saturday will Ikmade public when the Fixtures Committee lias arranged for tlie junior sudden death competition.
