ENGINEER'S REPORT Eastern Riding The s mall crushing plant has been, working practically full time at Ashhurst and to following are ’the quantities of gravel put out on the various roads: Bunnythorpe-Ashhurst 189 yard,,, F.eildi us,- Ashhurst 023, Pdhattgina road (spread) 094, Poliangiiia road (dumped) 390, Kelvin Grove road 128: Total 1930 cubic yards. The time worked was 21 days and this give ail uveracie daily output of over 01 cubic yard-;, which must be couidered very .satisfactory. Two old wuoden culverts on the Feilding read and one on. -Midland road have loon replaced with ooij« Crete pipes. Upper Taonui and
portion of Spur road 'have Le-cn graded and rolled. Siberia Road. Owing to blockage of several culverts during the heavy rains in the earlier part- of the mouth a good deal of drainage was done to tin's road. Tlii s trouble ran. only be overcome by increasing the size of the culverts. Western Riding Little 1 reside general maintenance work has been done in this riding. At the junction of Mekino and Lethbridge roads a long culver, has been replaced with concrete pipes. Two old wooden culverts on Lethbridge road and on Eeilding- Halcom.be road have also been replaced with pipes. On the Eeilding-Kakariki road from Knight’s hill to Kakariki the water tables; have been cut back with grader and the road generally put tn good order. The road referred to in letter to last meeting Has be«n attended to, all gorge ha., been, cut and tlie watertublefe etc., cleaned out. NO. -5 SCHEME Work under this scheme has proceeded as usual. At Hakonbc the work has beefi practically all an pn“ vato property and consisted of draining and gorsc cleaving. Tlio work on Makino road ha.s beep Continued and on Forking’s road from the reservoir towards the Oroua river improvements are also being carried out. Tlie Traffic Inspector reports that either white lives or donios are (required at the intersection .at 'Cheltenham as the practice of cutting the corner is becoming too general.
