In a dazed condition he managed to get across the river and walk back to his house and get into bed. Here he was found, and medical attention obtained. Later he was brought into Reefton. The accident was discovered through his horse being noticed in • the paddock with a bridle on by a neighbour, who at once investigated the matter.
