DUMPING I*l i'OY IS lONS IMPORTATIONS FROM BRITAIN CONCERN IN MANUFACTURING CIRCLES (Aust and N.Z. Cable) Ottawa Oct. 1. British trade interests which interpreted the Order in Council recently passed as an advantageous Canadian move for the extension of British preference was disillusioned by the Order passed yesterday declaring that the dumping provisions of the Customs Act will hereafter apply on any importation from Great Britain for which less than 4 dollars 80 li-3 cents in Canadian currency for each pound sterling is paid. This action follows a great commotion in Canadian manufacturing circles. Many linns were confronted. with the cancellation of domestic orders which were being diverted to England under the depreciated pound.. Further action is believed to be necessary regarding Norway, Sweden and Denmark, all with depreciated currency > since abandoning the gold standard.
