KnighHike’s lialf-brotlier Sympathetic, trained by J. 1 \. Jefferd, was amongst the runners for the Okawa Maiden Plate at Hastings on Saturday last. Ridden by H. Grav, Sympathetic showed some speed away

! from the barrier, and was prominent for half a. mile. His conditioned then failed, and he went back. Sympathetic showed quality, and when ino.e seasoned should pay his way. Nea Lap, the younger sister to . the mighty Phar Lap, was a competiI tor at the Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club meting last Saturday. The ex-Australian, B. ( arslake. is j well in the veteran class, hut, as I a jockey, he can still hold his own against the younger division in England.
