ERROR OF JUDGMENT
A LAND AGENT'S DEATH CAR, GOES OVER RANK (Per Press Association) Masterton, April 16. That death was caused by injuries received in a motor accident on fl'c AVangaehu road oil April 8. the accident being caused through an error of judgment, was the verdict returned by the Coroner (Air 0. Eton) in an inquest )o-il av touching upon the death of Francis William Pointon, a land agent, of Masterton. Edward Henry Riekettcs, i, sm aller 1 inspector, of Masterton, who was a passenger in Pointon’s car on the night of the accident, said i hat he and deceased left: Masterton about 6.30 p.m.. and having transacted their business at Wangaehu, left on the return journey about 7.45 p.m. Deceased passed the remark when ’driving back that lie would take his time, as the road was rather tricky. Alter nine miles of the journey had Imen completed deceased apparently swrvd to his wrong side—evidently naviilg mistaken the road.
‘I distinctly remember him making the remark I am sorry’ just as the ear was toppling over (he bank.” witness said. “After tlmt nil l remember is going over the tank and sustaining a nasty knock. Later witness recovered consciousness and searched for deceased near the car, but he could not find him. He hailed a passing car, driven by Air J. McGregor, j mi., and the two men continued the search, finding deceased tying near a culvert.
Replying to Air R- R* 11 ufridge, who appeared for the Wairarapa AupuniMe Association Mutual Insurance Company witness said there had been no fouble. experienced prior to tho accident. The car was in good order and tboro had boon no tire trouble.
