A HUNGER STRIKER
WOMAN FORCIBLY FED (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) Parts. March 20. Madams Martha Tanan. who was arrested in December, 1928, in connection with alleged frauds lu the conduct of her financial newspaper, the “Gazette ‘dll France,” was forcibly (ed after hunger striking for twenty days. She was held down l>y eight hospital attendants and fed by means of a tube, smeared with vaseline, from the throat to the stomach, whereby liquid food was introduced by prison doctors at 1,-, o’clock in the morning and 5 in the evening.
