GENERAL ASSEMBLY

WATT ORPHAN HOMES (Per Press Association) Dunedin, March 8. This evening’s session of the Presbyterian General Assembly was devolfed to a youth demonstration. Miss Buchanan was ordained as a deaconess and set apart for the work of travelling secretary of the Young Women’s Bible Class Union. Th e Rev. E. Blamires, Methodist Young People’s Secretary, addressed the Assembly on “Continuity in Religious Education.” He made a strong appeal for co-operutioil in the work of carrying out a complete programme of religious education, and was given a very cordial reception. In connection with the social service report, the Rev. John Patterson, of Wanganui, intimated that the Margaret Watt Orphan Homes would be erected shortly after the end of April. This year the approximate value of the Watt Trust would be administered by the minister and session of St. Paul’s, Wanganui, in cooperation with th e Presbyterian Social Service Association in Wellington.
