THE RAIDER SCORES

A feature of th c meeting was the success of the Fordell trainer, Fred Tilley, who led in three winners out of six horses presented, five of which were favourites— a remarkable tribute surely. Of the three non-winners, one dead-heated for second, another was third and this other unplaced. Additional results:

A Dunedin exchange says it is understood that C. Christie wall shortly return on a visit to New Zealand alter several month's’, stay.in Western Australia.

According to reports the condition of the jockey P. Adams, who was injured on the New Plymouth racecourse on Thursday week, had not altered very much since his admission to the hospital.

Catoma, the full-brother to Lomiila and’ the defunct Chamour, continues to grow, and is the biggest two year old in commission at Ellerslie. He will be allowed to mature fully before entering upon, a racing programme.

Master Doon is in steady work, at Ellerslie after a spell extending over several months. The Lucullus gelding put. on a- lot of, condition during his respite from hard work and it will lie some, little time before he is in racing trim again.

A handsome gold, cup valued at one hundred guineas, has been presented to tlie Musterton Pacing Club by stewards and members. The trophy will henceforth bo the principal trophy competed for,at the club’s meetings. - ; , ; •

It is somewhat of a coincidence that Good Sport, ..who, prior to last Saturday had not..won a race since February, of 1927, should have, on Saturday, scored in the same event, the Bright Memorial Handicap, the event that recorded his last success prior to last week.

The crack jumper Beau Cavalier is howling along very freely in his track work at Ellerslie, and will be in great' order when the jumping season arrives. He has no immediate engagements, hut S. Toomau has him looking bright and well in view of important events ahead.

Oratrix, who finished second to David Garrick last season in the Woodville Handicap, when she had B.G on her hack, has been given 8.13 in the event which will come up for decision irfext week. She is the only ono of the place-getters of last February wWo has been weighted for the contest.

Miss Niglitraid, a two year <?kl filly by Niligt Raid groin the Sal - to marc Miss Hook bred and owned by Air F. Roberts, has joined Miss L. Doyle’s stable at lliccarton. She has received her early education at Timavu t aud is to make her first appearance in the Lyttelton Plate• at the forthcoming meeting at Riccarton.

As a coincidence, it is worth noting that all three placed horses in last Saturday’s Taranaki Stakes were sired at Mr W. Gr. Stead’s Flaxmere (Hastings) stud—Pagailelli, by Lord Quexr—Ringdove; Lady Quex, by Lord Quex —Whit© Clover; and Cimalnie, hv Leighton—Delight. The first and third are also from Flaxmere mares.

The impost (10,7) allotted to Gothic in connection with the forthcoming

Newmarket Handicap is.a fine tribute to the prowess of the English-bred horse. It is not, however the liigjhest that has topped the list for the Flemington race.. In 190 G 11.3 was allotted to the New Zealand-bred hors© Machine Gun. He contested the race, hut lie failed to gain a place.

Ridgemount is • proving a useful investment to trainer R. Johnston, of New Plymouth, as he must now be standing well ran the credit side of the ledger, for the new owner of the son of Leighton and Lalla Rookh only disbursed 275 guineas to obtain possession of him. During the present season Ridgemount has won upon three of Iris efforts, and Las also secured a second berth.

With a feoordo-.-: of four wins and

a. third, in his last six starts Jolly Money has proved himself a galloper a bit above thc ordinary and he is still susceptibl© of further improvement. He claims ail engagement in the Waibou Handicap on Saturday next at To Aroha, in which event lie will be meeting several speedy sprinters who are sure to test him severely. His latest track work has been accomplished in a capable manner, and looking an improved l.Grse since racing at the Takapuna meeting, he can he relied on to keep the best of them busy over the six furlong journey.— Auckland Star.
