It is genicrally expected that a fortnight’s notice will he screed on the nothern miners this week. The position is described by the union officials as darker than iu 1917 it had been‘precipitated by the simultaneous extension of the timber workers’ strike and tlfo threatened closing of the norffiiern coal mines. It is now feared that a common case will be made of the two disputes resulting in ail. unprecedented industrical upheaval.
