FEILDING HIGH SCHOOL.
OLD PU P lUS ’ A SSOC lAT I ON. GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING The recently elected general committee of the Feilding Agricultural High School Old Pupils’ Association met for the first time last night at the residence of the secretary, in Denbigh street. In the absence ol Mr J. D. Kilgour, the Vice-President, Mr N. Bramwell, occupied the chair, and there were also present Misses M. Barltrop, M. Cox, V. Foster, E. Shelton, T. Mji-yo (secretary), and Messrs L. Anderson, E. Heard, A. Carthew, IT Cham her lain, T. Page (treasurer), and' F. Price. The Commemoration Day activities at the school in July last were reviewed'and the printed reports of the procedibgs discussed. Disappointment was expressed at the inannev in which, the Roll Call was responded to by a 'number of old boys, although in every other respect the celebrations were gone through with enthusiasm. It was suggested that the Roll Call he deleted on future occasions, but the matter was held over pending an expression of opinion from the various committees.
The holding of a Labour Day tennis tournament and cricket match iii October, 1027 between old pupils and the school was gone into, but was thought a little premature The meeting resolved that of the' school magazine, The Shoal, he distributed free of cost to all financial members. The magazine this year again contains several pages of O.P.A. notes. With, the view to preserving recollections .of the school in its infancy and keeping a photographic record of its growth, and expansion, together with camera snaps of members a resolution, that a snap albino be opened was carried unanimously. A number of interesting camera studies taken as from 1921 were handed in. and an appeal is to he made to members for good prints of old negatives. A suggestion for the formation of a Literary Club to foster educational social evenings amongst members oJ: the O.P.A. and incidentally to arrange debates on interesting topics of the day, lecturettes on suitable subjects and promote circles in music and art was favourably received. It was resolved to commence operations during next winter and a committee comprising • Misses T. Mayo (Convenor) and M. Cox and Messrs A. Carthew and R. Chamberlain was set up to make preliminary arrangements. As the year is now drawing to a. close and the school’s vacation commences within the next few weeks it was resolved to arrange a meeting of intending: old pupils. The several sports clubs atached to the Association were to he asked for affiliation. At the conclusion of the meeting < a dainty Supper was provided.
