CORRESPONDENCE
“HUSH —HUSH!” (To the Editor of the Star). Sir, —In oommon. with others who were present at the meeting addressed by Messrs Jones and Forsyth on Friday, ! should like to know why Mr C'obbe, the chairman of the local freezing company, was refused a bearing. Mr Jones, the Meat Board’s chairman, made a strong speech against an amalgamation of the Dominion freezing works. Mr .'Newman, although not in any way connected with the board, also made a lengthy speech in opposition to amalgamation. But when Mr Cohbe asked permission to put the other side of the question, Mr Jones said “No” to the chairman of the meeting, who then refused to allow Mr C’obbe to speak. Whether we agree with amalgamation or not, the question is of great interests to farmers and otliers, and although. Mr Cobbe may not be much of a speaker, he is chairman of the local freezing company, and should know something about the question, and therefore should have been allow-, ed to speak. It seems one-sided and unfair that only one aspect of such an important question should have been presented. Had it been stated at the beginning of the meeting that only speeches in opposition to amalgamation would be allowed, then Mr Cobbe- would not have been subjected to a public affront. —I am, etc., ONE OF THE AUDIENCE.
