Paris, March 9. ■There'-was a moving ceremony at the rehabilitation of a ihnofcent ma.ll who was shot during the war at Maubeugo. His name was Strim melle, a blacksmith. On September 7, 191-1, lie was accused: of .espionage by using homing pigeons, and was shot out of hand at the foot bf the ramparts a Maubeuge. Local opinion was immediately convinced; that there had been a miscarriage of military justice. Finally, the League ul the Eights of Men took up the ease, and the Courts eventually proclaimed the blacksmith innocent. . To-day there was a great gathering at the grave of the dead' man. Several speakers paid -y tribute to bis honour and sympathised with bis widow. Finally, the onlookers came to the grave one by. one and took an oath to do their best to prevent any more war in the future.
