APPRECIATION" OF TEACHERS OF OR Oil A. At the annual meeting of the Oroua'•■branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute, mention was made in matters educational during Si,. James Parr to take up the duties of Ili'gh Commissioner for New Zealand.

The meeting discussed the progress made iti matters edueationla during Sir James’s term ol office as Minister of Education. Among these improvements might he mentioned: (1) More up to date and hygienic school buildings; (2) reduction i t) size of ei.-sses; (3) junior high schools; M) better system of appointment and promotion of teachers.

A resolution was passed thanking Sir James for his sympathetic, cooperation with the teaching profession, and, while regretting his reparture from hi‘s present office, congratulating him on his appointment to the position of High Commissioner fo r New Zealand.
