The Feilding Star Oroua and Kiwitea Counties’ Gazette WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6, 1926. BE VIGILANT AND WATCHFUL.
With the return of another spasm of hot days and very dry- grasses, it becomes necessary for residents in Feikling and district to be careful against ensuing fires. Do not lie casual in throwing a fray the match that has lighted pipe or cigarette. Put it out before throwing it away. We saw some live embers drppped by a vehicle passing along one of outside streets here the other day. The red hot embers fell very close to to a long stretch of dry grass, (food citizens paused by the way to deaden those embers. There is urgent need for vigilance and watchfulness against fire throughout the ensuing weeks, and it is the duty of everybody to be, quick to deaden the mate)), to see that the butt of the cigarette or cigar is not thrown casually into- a fire-making patch, and generally to recognise that prevention is . very much better than causing a panic or damage or danger to the community.
