BURGLARS IN A CLUB.
RAID UPON SUPPLIES. LIQUOR AND Cl GARETTES. A jemmy was used by burglars who made a raid on the premises of tlic Richmond Working Men’s Club, Stanuiore road. Christchurch'. They broke in a glass panel of a rear door with the tool, and turned the key in' the slock. The article taken comprised cash/ liquor, and cigarettes, to the total value •of £2O. About £1 iii silver and hates of small denomination, 15 bottles of whisky, three of gin; six' of" stout, and five of port wine, and .i quantity of tobacco were found to be' missing. Evidences of the raid met'the eyes of air F. Hughes, the custodian, when he entered the building. • Glasses were on the counter, and further examination revealed that the • club’s stock had been opened,-and- many packets of- cigarettes taken.- The cash stolen was extracted .from tlio till. Mr, Hughes, who lives opposite the club room.- -heard, a., noise shorty after midnight, but did not attach any importance to it. .
