FEILDING CAR-NIP A THIS MONTH.
In order to raise necessary funds for improvements at the municipal baths, the Folding Amateur Swimming Club intend holding a carnival at the baths on the evening of the 2()th iiust. The programme of racing was adopted at a meeting of the committee held yesterday at the officeof the President, Mr T. F. FitzGerald. An enthusiastic supporter of the club donated £3 3s towards the cost of trophies either for this or the second carnival, to lie held in February. A centrifugal pump, to be driven, by electric motor, has been placed in the well on the bank ol the Makino stream alongside the baths. It is hoped to have the motor connected «p next week, and if the scheme proves satisfactory, it should render the baths largely independent of the borough water supply.
