BATTLESHIPS DOOMED ? NEW NAVAL THEORY. London, December 14. The Star's naval correspondent be-: lievos that H.AI. s. Rodney will be Britain’s last battleship. Experts, itis asserted, declare that when the Washington agreement expires the battleship will bo regarded as obsolete. The new school of naval thought believes that smaller ships designed for special purposes will provide a more efficient navy and one less liable to be seriously weakened by attrition. When Britain is free to resume battleship building, the Admiralty Board will be controlled by younger men, not wedded to the battleship, and who will decline to build them.
