The year 1924 was a wonderful yea r in Ne\k Zealand so far as vital statistics are concerned. A crude (or actual) death rate of 8.29 per 1000 of . mean population; an infant mortality rate of 40.2 per 1000 births; and a death-rate from tuberculosis of 5.67 per 10,000 of mean population. These all constitute record figures.
