N.Z.L. AND MA. CO. REPORTS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.'reports: — At Rongotea sale on Wednesday we had a large yarding of cattle, and but a small one of sheep. Bidding was animated throughout, and wo cleared ; the whole of our yarding under the hammer at prices in advance or recent quotations. Medium f.m..lambs 15s, rorward store ewes 14s, sound dairy cows £9 to £lO, 2-year S.H. springing heifers £5 12s Od, good tat cows to £4 12s 6d, heavy fat cows £3 17s 6d to £4-7s Od, medium fat cows £3 to £3 15s, store cows £1 to £1 15s, 20,-mos. S.H. steers £2 4s, weaner steers 17s Od to 30s, good weaner heifers £2 to £2 17s Od. At Palmerston on Thursday we had small entries of both sheep and cattle. Bidding was fairly brisk and wo cleared the bulk of our yarding. Medium m.s. lambs to 12s 3d, empty f.m. ewes 12s to 14s, light fat cows £3,2s Od, empty S.H. heifers £2 8s to £3, •store cows 25s to 37s Od, mixed weaner heifers £2 lis, potting bulls 255. FEILDING "STOCK SALES. Abraham and Williams report on Feilding sale. A medium yarding ot sheep came forward and met with a good sale. The supply of fat sheep was in excess of demand, and prices receded somewhat. Store sheep sold freely, lambs especially being in keen demand. Dairy stock was again selling freely, choice heifers in calf making good money. AVc quote: Fat sheep: Lambs, light 15s, good 20s, fat ewes 15s 4d to 19s 9d. Store sheep: Empty ewes 14s 2d, 14s Od to 15s 7d, 2-th. wethers 22s sd, ewes in lamb to Itomney rams 18s 10d, best lambs 10s, 10s Id to 16s 9d, medium 10s 2d tolls lid, cull ewes 9s. Cattle: Springing heifers £S, £9, £9 10s, £lO, £l2, £l2 10s to £l3 15s, cows in milk £5 to £B, springing cows, £9, £lO, £ll, £l2 to £l4, weaner Jersey heifers £2 4s, £3 8s od, £4 lis to £5, Shorthorn cross heifers 30s to £2 os, fat cows £2 12s 6d to £3 10s, 2i tq 3year steers £2 7s to £4 Os, store cows 20s to 30s. , Dalgety and Co. report having a very fair entry of both sheep and cattlo at their Feilding sale. Fat sheep wero a shade easier, store sheep met with a keen demand, beef was dull of sale, and a number of dairy and store cattk were passed at auction. Small b.f. lambs 12s 9d to 14s 7d mixed lambs 15s sd, small 4-th. wethers 19s Id, 4 and 0-th. wethers 22 s Id, empay ewes 13s lOd, light tat wethers 225, fat wethers 255, tat ewes 15s 5d to 17s Id, fat lambs 17s, 19s Od, 20s to 20s 2d,2J-yr. rough steers £2 17s 6d. light fat hullocks £5 Is. ' gg LEVIN'S REPORT. W At Rongotea on Wednesday there was a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle, which sold freely at late rates. Medium shorn w.f. lambs 12s 3d, woolly w.f. lambs I4s4d, low-condi-tioned 2-yr. Jersey heifers r.w.b. £i, cows in milk and empty 37s od, threequarter cows, springing" 30s, £2 2si od to £2 10s, Shorthorn weaner heifers 36s to £2'4s, store cows 30s, 31s, 34s to £2, fat and forward cows £2 5s to £3, best cows £3 7s 0d to £3 17s Gd. At Feilding on Fridav a medium yarding of sheep and a heavy yarding of cattle came forward. Fat sheep wero slightly easier . than at last week's sale. Stores sold well under good competition. Breeding ewes were still in good demand. There was a heavy yarding of dairy cow s and heifers, a few lines of the choicest heifers and guaranteed cows only, meeting with any competition. Weaner dairy heifers, of which there, was a large entry, were easier than at late sales. Over all classes of cattle last week's rates were barely maintained. Levin and Co. have received the following cable from their London agents, dated the 19th inst: The wool sales have closed firm, buyers operating freely. As compared with the opening sales of this series, the closing sales show merinos and fine crossbreds unchanged. Medium crossbreds, a halfpenny per lb. dearer. . Coarse crossbreds, one halfpenny per lb. dearer. Compared with the closing of last sales, slipes showhne crossbreds lid ner lb. dearer; others one penny per lb. dearer.
