FIRE AT HASTINGS.
THREE SHOPS DESTROYED. (Per Press Association.) Hastings, April 29. Early this morning a fire broke out in James McLaughlin's fruit shop in Heretaunga Street; which was completely gutted. The fire spread through the building to Joseph's restaurant on one side and the premises of Dunkley (tailor) on the other. The restaurant and contents were practically destroyed, and Dunkley's shop was badly damaged and the stock ruined. The insurances were: McLaughlin's stock £350, Dunkley's stock £OOO, and Joseph's stock £325. O. "Hughes, owner of the buildings, is covered by insurances, but tho amount is not ascertainable.
