U'or Press Association..) MOTOR AND TRAIN COLLIDE. Invercargill, October 29. A motor oar collided with a train from , Riverton to Invercargill at the )Valkeetown level crossing this evening. The car contained two men, who ■did not notice the approaching; train until they were almost on the line. One of the occupants jumped out, but the othpr, Henry Warden, the driver, remained in the car and was struck by the engine, sustaining- a fracture of the ekull. He was removed to the Southland hospital in a serious condition. A NARROW ESCAPE. Hokitika, October 29. When Mr Malcolm Houston, a well known auctioneer, his wife, and a passenger were being towed across tho Little W&nganui river in a motor car, the oar got into deep water and was swept down tho river, turning over several times, the passenger being caught beneath. Fortunately the car righted itselfj realising him. Mr Houston and his wife also escaped, but tho car was* badily damaged.
