SOME INSIDE INFORMATION. Charges, instigated by the Price Investigation Tribunal against several commercial firms -in Christchurch, Avert' commenced nt Christchurch bofore Mr -McCarthy, S.M., yesterday. The. charges mainly dealt with exposing for sale. "Big Ben" alarm clocks at an unreasonably high price. A case against Hastie, Bull and Pickering ivas taken first. Mr Macgregor, opening for the Crown, said that in addition to the local cases,'therewere tivo charges against Messrs Broivn and Durean, Who controlled the trade in "Big Ben" alarm clocks in the Dominion, of counselling and procuring the sale at - unreasonably high prices. In each case tho selling price and profit ivere as follows:—Mason, Strnthers, 12s and 255, 108 per cent; Hastie, Ball and Pickering, same; A. J. AA'hite, 14s and 255, 78 per cent; Recce, Ltd., 15s 9d and 255, 78 per cent; Drayton's, 14s 3d and 255, 75 per cent.
