ARRANGEMENTS FOR DEMONSTRATION IN FEILDING.

BCHLIGHT PUOCESSION AND FIREWORKS DISPLAY.

The Mayor reports that lie is meeting Avith a very ready response to his requests in connection with the Peace Day celebration. In addition to the function in the daytime, arrangements are now being made for a torchlight procession in the evening, finishing with a bonfire and fireworks display at Kowhai Park. The display will be under the control of the Fire Brigade. All are requested to join the torchlight procession and to provide torches and lamps for thu occasion. Representative speakers have been arranged . The hymns to be sung on the occasion will be: "0 God, our Help in ages past," "All hail the Power of Jesus' Name," and " All people that on earth do dwell." Copies are now in the printers' hands, and will be distributed at the procession.

A prize has been offered for the best decorated vehicle in the procession, and the Mayor desires to thank Mr H. G. Stringer for a donation of £5 towards the fireworks display. The Patriotic Society has voted a sum of £25 towards the cost of the display, etc., and has asked the Borough Council to give a similar donation.
