PETROL'S ARTIFICIAL SCARE.
Investigations of tho potrol sliortugo uudortakeu in Wellington show that imports appear to bo in oxcess of previous years, enabling supplies to be fully maintained for an increased number of vehicles. It i.s suggested that, having regard to the prices charged by importers, the best motor spirit being at. present UOh Ud ex store, in Wellington, exorbitant figures reported from other parts of New Zealand are unwarranted. Tins .stops taken to economise the. use of motor spirit have caused some persons to hoard. One big firm which actively assisted the authorities in economising petrol unwittingly fostered tho scare by refusing orders from new customers, and advising garages to only sell ouo tin at a time. Tho Board of Trade is reporting shortly on supplies.
