TO EASE RENTS.

MORE WORKERS' DWELLINGS

. [ran PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington,. August 17. Cabinet lias authorised the erection of additional workers' dwellings in New Zealand this year. Tho numbers for the different centres have yet to bo allocated but it is probable that Wollington will have a large share, in view of the great scarcity of house accommodation in this city. A number of applications for dwellings have already been received, and Wellington has the land available, so that, when the necessary preliminary steps have been taken, work should be proceeded with rapidly. In the Kilbirnie estate tho Labour Department has eleven sections not yet built upon, and there are sections also at Petone and Jdhnsonvillo.
