A BID FOR FREEDOM.
SENSATION AT TERRACE GAOL
As a result of a sensational happening at the Terrace Gaol last Saturday, four men who are at present undergoing sentence of imprisonment there will in due course bo brought up in tho Magistrate's Court. It is stated that the men made a concerted attack on one of the warders in the gaol, and handled him roughly enough to render him incapablo of any resistance. Then, it is stated, the men possessed themselves ™df the warder's keys, and succeeded in making their way through two or three doors, which barred tlie way to the outer world. Another warder, however, arrived on the scene in time to give the alarm before the men had quite broken out of their confinement, and they were speedily overpowered and returned to their cells.
