AIR DUEL IN PYJAMAS.
FEAT OF A BRITISHER
Attired only in his pyjamas, a British airman at the Dardanelles fought and won a duel in the air. His exploit was described to a Daily Express representative by another airman who was there at tlie time. "It was halfpast four in the morning," he said, "when wo were roused from sleep by fivo bombs being dropped unpleasantly near us, Every typo of aircraft can, of course, be recognised by.the particular noise of the engine, and wo knew by the sound that our assailant warf a seaplane, not at all of tho fast typo of machine. One of the officers leapt up, aud, dressed as he was—only in pyjamas—got out a fast machine and started off in pursuit of the enemy. He Avent in an aeroplane which could carry no observer, so he was singlebanded on his adventure, and was armed only with an automatic, pistol. He knew that the seaplane must cross the Narrows in order to get home, so he flew there and waited. Sure enough the enemy appeared, and the gallant airman went for it, and, after a short duel, managed to. place a well-directed shot in the engine, "'which sent 'the Gorman seaplane hurtling down to destruction."
