LYCEUM THEATRE. "Hushing the Scandal," Keystone's latest comedy, featuring Syd. Chaplin, is to bo tho star attraction at tho Lyceum to-night and to-morrow. Syd falls in love with another man's iianceo. Pie swallows her engagement ring and woos her in the shrubbery. Complications of a most uproarous character follow, and laughter accompanies them through tho film's two reels. The supporting ■programme is a lengthy one, containing aght items —"Tho Cascades of North Devon," a charming-travel scenic; "Tin , Baby's Rido," a Majestic comedy drama; "A Five Bob Rebellion" is a very clever topical by the Cities Company (Italians); "Out of the Deputy's Hands," a Reliance Western drama; "Fine Feathers Make Fine- Birds" is a story of home life; "The Double Elopement" is a siniilesoine comedy; and tho Patho War Gazette. Full details appear in another-column. QUEEN CARNIVAL CONCERT TO-NIGHT. There should bo no need to remind tho public of the excellence of the .programme which will be submitted at the Queen Carnival concert at tho Drill Hall this evening. Choruses by the massod olasses, orchestral items by t.he Lyric Orchestra, dainty dances by Miss Cobb's pupils, character songs by Mr C. Dumma and "Alexander's Ragtime Band," under tho conductorship of the well-known Mr Patchett, formerly of Feilding, are among the best items on a lengthy programme. Sweets and flowers will bo on sale by dainty flower girls, and tho townspeople will be given an opportunity to contribute to the war fund by bidding for a flag which will be auctioned during the evening. Tho electric lighting arrangements , are in the hands of Messrs Jebb and Thompson.
