LONDON MEAT MARKETS.

The C.C. and D. Co. send us thenreport, dated London,. January 30, as follows: — New Zealand Mutton.—With the arrival of cargoes amounting to 64,----463 carcases per Kia Ora, Opawa, and Nerehana, the condition of the demand has become a question of more interest to importers, and the desire,to stimulate the inquiry, a little has created an easier tone in prices. Canterbury brands are still unobtainable and only North Islands are in evidence. These can now be bought at prices from 4|d to 4Jd per lb, according to weight, showing a fall or about |d per lb. Ewes are selling at 4Jd to 4id per lb. . Frozen Lambs.—Receipts consist of 26,827 carcases from New- Zealand, 71,405 carcases from Australia and 9302 carcases from South America. New season's New Zealand lambs seem to offer too little attraction to buyers at the quotation of 6*d to 7d per lb for North Islands, and the difference of nearly Id per lb in favour of Australians, enables the latter to secure practically all the trade. Light carcases still command a substantial premium over other weights, but are not inquired for with quite the same keenness as a -little while ago. ) Secondary qualities of light weight make almost as much money as the : best light carcases. Plate lambs are- very varied in quality and prices show a correspondingly wide range from H& to 5Jd per lb. Frozen Beef.—Arrivals comprise 3284 quarters from New Zealand, 29,----339 quarters from Australia and 11),----777 quarters from South America. Stocks are firmly held and quotations have been unaffected by the low i prices ruling for chilled beef, but the j amount of business done has, _ot course, been restricted. Good New Zealand beef, however, is in. request. '
