♦ "an unpopulakTerdictT PEB PBEBB ASSOCIATIOK. Sydney, March 14. McGoorty obtained a verdict over Jeff Smith to-night in twenty rounds. The decision was badly received by the big crowd in the Stadium at Rushcuttcrs , Bay. The Stadium management afterwards decided to relieve the referee, Arthur Scott, of his duties and appointed Harold Baker in his stead.
