John Pearce, who, since his recent breach of promise case, has been known as, " : tho man with ihe leaky heart." has now appeared in tho role of bankrupt. At a mooting o.f his creditors he stated that his liabilities were £318 Pis od, and his iissets £20 Is 7d, as a result of tlie action for broach of promise of marriage brought by Miss Dinan, in which the Court awarded £'270 damages and costs -£48 I_s od. This amount was still owiiiK, and Miss Dinan was his only creditor. He had offered Miss Dinan £*100 iv settlement of tlie Court award, hut she had declined to accept it. Tlie bankrupt was closely questioned as to a certain deed of trust in which he had an interest with other members of his family, and which ho had assigned. Ho finally agreed to the rofpiest of his creditor to put in a- claim for one-fliird of the trust property, so {hat it might, be contested in the Supremo Court.
