WIDOWS' PENSIONS.
. Pensions to widows will become payable us from January 1 next. Application may be mado now with tbe Rcgistar of Old 'Ago Pensions, at tlie Courthouse, but so long as the application is lodged before the end of January the pension for that month will bo payable. The amount of pension pa-able is: For a widow with one child under 14 £.12 a year; two children under 14 £18; three children, £24; more than threo childz-en, a year. The chief provisions are that the pension will not permit of any pensioned widow receiving more than I*l.oo per year from all sources, i.e., sho may hare property worth £30 a year in interest, and she may earn £40 by personal exertion, and would then he entitled, if sho had more than threo children, to £30 yearly pension; sho may have no property at all, and be earning £70 a year by her own exertion, and still receive £30 a year. All widows with children under 14 years of ago and who are desirous of obtaining the pension should make inquiries of the Rcgistar at the Courthouse- before the middle of January next.
