"THE CREATION" TO-MORROW.
This evening (at 7 o'clock) there is to be a full rehearsal of principals, orchestra, and chorus of "The Creation," Haydn's beautiful and stirring oratorio, which is to be produced by •uhe Feilding Choral Society in the Lyceum Theatre to-morrow evening. As wo have already intimated, the Society, which is even enterprising on behalf of the music-lov-ers of Feilding, secured Mr John Prouse, of Wellington, for the basso'work, Mr Sydney Butler, a recent arrival from England, for the tenor solos, and Madame Emily Briggs as the soprano soloist. Mr Prouse will be heard in "Rolling in Foaming Billows" and "Soiily Purling," Madame Briggs will havo that delightful and famous aria, "Willi Vorduro Clad," in tho rendering of which site won first honours in a great con-
test in England; and Mr Butler will' be heard to advantage in the beautiful air, "In Native Worth." These three great vocalists will also bo associated in several trios, notably that . in the grand chorus, "The Heavens ' are Telling" and in "The Lord is Great." There is some very effective work for 'the clmyus besides those just named, notably "Achieved is the Glorious Work" (of which there are two numbers). M!r It. Temple White directs the whole work, Mrs Richmond will be at the pianoforte, Mr Cooke (New* Plymouth) will again load the orchestra, and Mr Frank Johnstone (Wellington), plays the 'cello. |
