ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE LYCEUM PICTURES

Last night's change of programme at the Lyceum Theatre was thoroughly enjoyed by the numerous patrons, who were especially enthusiastic during the screening of the romantic and thrilling adventures of Lieut. Daring of the British Navy, in a South American city. Because he released ii Spanish maiden from the hands of an insultcr, the naval officer became involved in misadventures which wero realistically reproduced, and the scene in which the spiked door is closed on the hero was especially exciting. Another film equally notable, though of a totally uuferent nature, showed tho cultivation of the rhododendron, from seedling to Hower —a masterpiece .of Pathe Frcres colour work. Spezzia was cue scenic record. Topical events were represented in a Pathe Gazette and a record of Labour Day in Christchurch. "Fun in a Bear Pit," "The Strategy of Anne" (a boarding school incident), "An Ingenious Accident," and another Tilly episode furnished the comedy element. "The Uorporatiou and the Ranch Girl" tells the story of how a railway .trust was beaten by a pair of lovers. Herr Berger's Orchestra maintained its high standard in the musical programme presented. For this evening the management has arranged to screen the results of the second ballots as they come to hand with the same strict attention to detail as they did last Thursday, and to keep going till past midnight, if necessary. The Lyceum will not open its doors for patrons until 8.30 o'clock this evening, so as not to make the "waiting to hear the verdict" too long. PRICE'S PICTURES. Owing to an unfortunato breakdown in the machinery last night, Price's new programme of pictures could not bo screened at the Drill Hall. In another column Mr Price offers his apologies, and promises that patrons wn. have a real musical and pictorial treat to-morrow night.
